I don't know about this book (doesn't sound like it would do the trick for me), but if you're looking for a good read, I can recommend "Gonzales and Daughter Trucking Company" by Maria Amparo Escandon. Just finished it and loved it. It's uplifting and empowering.

That's what I meant! Or what I was trying to get across. :) This attitude, where the children aren't 'theirs' so they don't count, is all over the world, not just in Muslim families or Islamic countries. I was arguing with the author, sort of. :)

as for adoptive parents and their step kids, I know that not all like their step kids or welcomed them at all and it happens everywhere in the world but why i mentioned is because she keeps pointing that this attitude towards orphanage kids and step kids are based on Islam when every biased one knows that Islam put great regards on taking care of orphanage ...

I've been enjoying these posts, though that might be the wrong word. I've been enjoying your take on a book I can tell I would chuck across the room. :)

About point 2: I know this attitude, the attitude of the step or adoptive parent toward the children that aren't theirs. It's hardly limited to the Muslim world, trust me. Anyone can have the attitude that 'this child isn't my blood' and treat that child as though they are worth less than the 'real' children. But for every one like that you have dozens if not more that understand that a family is not genetics, is not blood.
